An initial classification provides for the division between the static and the dynamic
static stretches: the muscle is extended to stretch slowly and maintained for 15-30 seconds. Reached position and reduced the feeling of stretching you can gently increase the stretch.

The PNF technique has been developed in several main branches:
KEEP AND RELAX: the subject keeps his arm extended up to a certain point and tries to resist the attempt isometrically the technician to move the limb towards a more intense, and thereafter is relaxes and the limb is moved passively in order to increase the stretch.
contracts and relaxes: similar to above but in this case the therapist resists while the subject isometrically contracted muscles trying to move the limb into a position of greater shortening of the muscle, then the subject is relaxed and the limb is moved passively a new location.
CRAC (contract-relax-contract antagonist): similar to the contraction which relaxes, except that after the isometric contraction the subject actively moves the limb in a position of greater range of movement.

Finally, we the GLOBAL ACTIVE STRETCHING, in which the stretching positions are made by stretching a chain muscle, leading to a re-education of postura.L 'importance of this system is that it acts on the whole body and not on single muscle district.
